Silver, Chrome, And The Point

Silver BMW X3

The right-size BMW SUV in plain silver with the chrome grille — the version nobody has to think about, which is the point of it.

A car whose merit is doing everything without asking anything of you, in the finish that matches.

The X3 is the BMW SUV that is the right size for almost everything: big enough for four adults and their weekend luggage, small enough for a Santa Monica parking structure and a Venice side street. It steers like a BMW — that is the part the badge never gives up — and it rides the 405 in the quiet a car this size is meant to.

Silver with the chrome grille surround is the X3 in its plainest form, and there is a real case for it. This is a car whose merit is that it does everything without asking anything of you, and the finish that matches that is the one nobody has to think about — it hides the Los Angeles dust for a day longer than any other colour, it never reads as a rental and never reads as a statement. This is the earlier face of the X3, with the M Sport bumper and the hexagonal lamp rings, and it is the lowest-fuss car of the five.

Five X3s are in the fleet — black, grey, blue, white and silver — and the dates on each page are the car's own. Whichever you pick, the car underneath is the same: five seats, a boot that takes four cases, and a chassis that makes the canyon road home the best part of the day.

The right size for almost everything.
Including the parking structure.

Queries

How much does it cost to rent a silver BMW X3 in Los Angeles?
The silver X3 is $137 a day. The day rate is the whole of it on this car — there is no weekly or monthly block, so a longer booking is priced day by day. Delivery to our Beverly Hills partner hotels is complimentary; LAX delivery is charged each way, in two tiers, and the figures are on our delivery page.
X3 or X5?
The X3 is the right size for most weeks in Los Angeles — four people, the beach, a hotel garage. The X5 is the one for four adults with a week of luggage and a run to Palm Springs. Both steer the way a BMW should; the X3 is the easier car to park by a clear margin.
How do the five X3s differ?
Paint and trim. Black and white wear the dark trim, grey and silver the chrome, blue is the one BMW keeps for its own cars — and the silver one is the earlier face. Each colour is on its own page with its own dates; pick by colour and by the diary.
Is it a good car for a family?
It is the car we send most families to. Two child seats fit across the back with room for an adult between them, the boot takes a double stroller with the shopping beside it, and it is short enough that a beach car park is not a negotiation.
Can I see the dates before I call?
Yes — the diary on this page is the live fleet calendar. If a date is open there, it is open.

The terms, before you commit

Refundable deposit
$500
A hold, not a charge. Back with you 5–7 business days after the car is home.
Damage and liability cover
$75 a day
Mandatory, and priced off the deposit rather than the rate. Your own qualifying full-coverage policy takes this line out of the quote entirely.
Driver, 21–24
$50 a day
Twenty-one is the floor, with a licence held two years. The higher band applies above a $1,500 deposit; this car is below it.
Shortest booking
24 hours
No maximum. Delivery is complimentary at our Robertson Boulevard lot and our four Beverly Hills partner hotels; LAX is $75 to the parking structure or $150 to the terminal, each way.

This one is the same rate at every length — it carries no multi-day block, so three days is three times one day. We would rather say that than imply a discount that is not there.
