Red Chevrolet Corvette convertible on a Los Angeles street

Picture Car & Film Production Car Rental in Los Angeles

Recognised intwo seconds.

A picture car has one job an audience never thinks about: telling them who owns it before anybody speaks. Silhouette does that. Specification does not.

The audience never sees the badge.

They see an outline against a night street for a second and a half, and they decide what the character earns, how old the money is and whether to like him. Which is why sourcing a picture car is a casting problem rather than a shopping one — and why the fastest car is rarely the right one.

Casting, not shopping

A hero car is a costume. It has to say something specific and say it before the dialogue does: old money or new, earned or borrowed, careful or reckless. A Rolls-Royce coupé and a yellow Lamborghini are both expensive and they are opposite castings. Getting that wrong costs a scene.

The practical test is the outline. Shoot it at night, backlit, from behind — if the shape is still identifiable, it will work in the cut. If it needs a badge to read, it is a background car, and there is nothing wrong with being a background car.

Colour under the light you have

Paint behaves differently on camera than in a car park. Matte finishes hold detail where gloss blows out under a bounce; saturated colours that look loud in daylight go muddy under sodium and read as brown. If the scene is night exterior in Los Angeles, that matters more than the model.

We keep the same models in several colours for exactly this reason, and the colour pages show each one as photographed rather than as a swatch. If you have a lighting plan, send it and we will tell you which of them holds up.

COI, delivery and the day moving

A certificate of insurance goes to the production office on request, named and dated to your schedule, before the shoot rather than during it. On-set delivery across greater Los Angeles, staged to call time, with collection at wrap or the following morning if the day overruns — which it does.

Shoot dates move. Tell us as early as you know and the reservation moves with them at no charge; the only thing we cannot move at short notice is a one-of-one car into a date somebody else has already taken. Book the hero early and the background fleet late — that is the order that survives a schedule change.

Background, and how many

Dressing a street takes more cars than anyone budgets for, and they should not all be interesting. Ordinary SUVs and saloons in unremarkable colours are what make the hero car read as a hero car; a kerb full of exotics reads as a dealership.

Multi-vehicle and multi-day rates are quoted as a block rather than per car per day. Send the shot list, the dates and the location, and a quote plus the COI come back the same day. The whole Nizo fleet is available for production, not just what is on this page.

Cars for the shot list

Hero and background, on one list. Where a card shows a date, that date is the live calendar and you can hold it now; the rest are prepared for the shoot dates you name and confirmed the same day you ask.

Production car questions

Can you provide a certificate of insurance (COI) for a production?
Yes. Productions can request a certificate of insurance naming the relevant parties as additional insured, which is standard practice for studios, networks, and independent shoots working with picture cars. Send us the exact insured names, entity, and requirements from your production insurance or completion documents and we will coordinate the paperwork before the shoot day so nothing holds up your call sheet.
Do you deliver to set or a filming location?
Yes — on-set and on-location delivery across the greater Los Angeles area is a core part of what we do for productions. Give us the location, the crew-parking or basecamp details, and your call time, and we deliver the vehicle where and when you need it, then collect it at wrap. If the shoot moves between locations or runs multiple days, we build that into the plan.
Do you offer multi-day or production day rates?
Yes. Productions rarely need a car for a single day, and shoots have their own rhythm — prep days, shoot days, hold days, and pickups. We quote flexible multi-day and production arrangements rather than forcing a straight retail day rate across a two-week shoot. Tell us the schedule and how many vehicles you need and we build a rate around the actual production window.
What kinds of vehicles can you supply for a shoot?
The fleet spans hero exotics (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce), luxury sedans and SUVs, convertibles, and distinctive modern silhouettes like the Tesla Cybertruck — so we can dress a wealth-and-power scene, a chase, a music video, a commercial, or a lifestyle photo shoot. If you need several matching or contrasting cars for a sequence, or a specific look to fit a character or brand, tell us the brief and we will put options in front of you.
Can you help coordinate the picture cars on the day?
Yes. Beyond dropping keys, we can coordinate picture-car logistics with your transportation or production department — staging, timing to the shot list, and repositioning between setups — so the vehicles are camera-ready when the AD calls for them. Loop us in with your production and transpo contacts early and we will slot into your workflow.
