The Huracan Spider is the open version of the last naturally aspirated V10 anybody sells: ten cylinders behind the seats, no turbochargers, and a roof that stows in the deck. Ours is matte black over red.

01Roof stowed, the profile is almost all rear haunch. The intake behind the door is feeding the thing that matters.

The engine is the reason. Almost everything else at this money is turbocharged now, which is faster on paper and quieter about it; a V10 without turbos does its best work at the top of the range and tells you the whole way there. With the roof down that is not a detail, it is the product.

Matte paint does something specific to a shape this angular. Gloss fills the creases with reflections and softens them; matte leaves the edges where the designer put them, so the nose reads as a set of planes rather than a set of highlights. It is why the car looks bigger standing still than it measures.

How much does it cost to rent a Lamborghini Huracan in Los Angeles?
The matte black Huracan Spider is $1,799 a day. The day rate is the whole of it on this car — there is no weekly or monthly block, so a longer booking is priced day by day. Delivery to our Beverly Hills partner hotels is complimentary.
What is the difference from the other Huracans in the fleet?
The colour and the roof. We keep a yellow Evo coupe and a green Evo Spyder as well; this is the matte black Spider. Same V10 behind the seats in all of them.
Is matte paint delicate?
It is looked after differently rather than more carefully — no machine polish, no wax. We hand it over detailed and we deal with the finish.
How far ahead should I book it?
It is one of the most-booked cars in the fleet through the summer. Name the date early and it is held for you.

This one is the same rate at every length — it carries no multi-day block, so three days is three times one day. We would rather say that than imply a discount that is not there.
