Being driven is not an upgrade on a rental. It is a different product with different arithmetic: the driver from $100 an hour on a four-hour minimum, the car at its own daily rate, and a driver whose job description includes the 405. Below — what the service costs, which cars carry seven, and why six different phrases all reach the same booking.
What you are actually buying
A car rental gives you keys and a daily rate. A chauffeur service gives you a back seat and an hourly one, and the difference is not luxury — it is the list of things that stop being your problem. Traffic on the 10. The structure under the hotel with the 6'2" clearance. The valet queue at the moment you most want to already be inside. Somebody is still solving all of it; they are simply not you.
That is why the booking is shaped differently. Car rentals are sold by the day: a period of time in which the car belongs to you. A chauffeured day is a schedule — addresses, hours, a first pickup and a last drop — and it is priced against the schedule rather than the calendar. When seven of you are going
Ask for a seven seater with a chauffeur and the honest answer is usually that you want nine. The Mercedes Sprinter is the one vehicle here designed around being driven rather than driving: nine individual quilted chairs, a starlight headliner, screens, lighting you set by colour, a refrigerated drawer — and the luggage still going in behind everybody rather than on their knees. One vehicle replaces a convoy, and it keeps a group on one schedule instead of three.
If a seven seater is literally what you mean — a family and a week of cases, not a wedding party — the three-row cars do it for a fraction of the money, and the fraction is worth naming. The Chevrolet Traverse seats seven across three rows with a boot still behind the third, at $114 a day; the Volkswagen Atlas does the same for the same $114; the Lexus TX takes six in individual chairs, is the quietest of them, and is $159. The Sprinter is $399. Those are the cars' own daily rates, with the driver's hours their own line on top of whichever you pick. Those three ordinarily go out self-drive. Say you want a driver when you enquire and we quote the car and the driver together, which is the only way the number means anything.

What chauffeur hire costs
Two numbers, and most of the confusion in this market comes from quoting them as one. The driver is $100 an hour, from, on a four-hour minimum booking — when somebody asks what a personal chauffeur costs in Los Angeles, that is the figure they mean. The car carries its own daily rate alongside it, from $125 across the fleet, and whatever is printed on that car's own page is what it costs.
Two things decide where your evening sits above that floor, and we would rather name them than dress them up. Which car, because a driver for a Cullinan is not a driver for a Traverse. And how many hours you are asking for, because the driver's hours are their own line on the quote rather than something folded into the car. Anything else is its own line too and is named as such — a second vehicle, or delivery to an address rather than to one of the Beverly Hills hotels we already serve.
Worked through, because two rates the reader has to multiply and add is not a price. An eight-hour day — a driver from mid-morning until after dinner — in the white BMW 7 Series is eight hours of driver at $100 and the car's own $125 for the day: $925, before the deposit, which is refundable, and cover, which is not. The same eight hours behind the Cullinan moves the second half of that sum and not the first. Neither figure is a quote — the hours are where an evening actually varies — but it is the shape of the answer, and it is the arithmetic nobody in this field publishes.
The shortest booking we take is four hours, which happens to be the shape most evenings arrive in anyway — dinner and back, a premiere, an arrival at LAX with the wait built in at the other end. Longer nights and multi-day arrangements are quoted the same way, by the hour, and the whole figure reaches you in writing with the car and the hours named before you commit to any of it. The cars people ask for by name
Rolls-Royce is the name that comes up first. The Cullinan is the one most of these bookings end on: a back seat with room to arrive in, and a boot that takes everybody else's luggage as well. The Wraith is the coupé, and a driver suits it rather than wastes it — coach doors that open backwards, a kerb and an audience are a combination best handled by somebody who has done it before. Ask to rent a Rolls-Royce with a driver and it comes back as the two numbers above: the car's day rate, and the driver's hours.
The Maybach is the other name, and it is asked for by a different person. A Rolls-Royce is a car you are seen getting out of; the Maybach GLS 600 is one you are not seen in at all, which for some of these bookings is the entire brief. Two reclining captain's chairs in the back with a console between them rather than a bench, the quietest cabin we hold, and the height to get in and out of in a dress or a suit without a performance. It is $1,799 a day for the car, with the driver's hours alongside it as ever. Ask for a Maybach with a driver and you have asked for the thing this car was built to be — it is the one vehicle in the fleet where the back seat is unambiguously the better seat.
An exotic car with a chauffeur works the same way, with one thing worth knowing first. A chauffeured Lamborghini here means the Urus — the super-SUV, with a back seat that is worth sitting in — rather than a Huracán, which is built around the wheel and puts its passenger beside the driver. Say chauffeur when you enquire rather than afterwards, and the car and the driver are quoted as one thing.
Private driver, personal chauffeur, car with a driver
People reach this page having typed seven different things. Private driver services. Personal chauffeur. Luxury car hire with a driver. Chauffeur-driven cars. Executive car service. An LA chauffeur service. A car and a chauffeur. In Los Angeles these all describe one booking, and nobody should have to guess the magic word to get a straight answer. If the sentence in your head is "I want the car but I do not want to drive it", you are in the right place regardless of which of those you searched for.
The distinction that does matter is not vocabulary but duration. A single evening — a dinner, a premiere, a wedding exit — is arranged as one block with a set start and finish. A driver held across a week of meetings, a production, or a visiting principal's whole stay is a standing arrangement rather than a single booking. Both are ordinary here and the two are quoted differently, so say which one you are asking about.
For a company the standing version usually comes with the corporate arrangement around it — one invoice, a billing contact, a certificate of insurance sent to your risk team before the first journey rather than after somebody chases it.
Beverly Hills, and the three kerbs we already know
Most of what is sold as a Beverly Hills chauffeur service is a car dispatched into Beverly Hills. The difference here is where it starts from and what that costs: the car and the driver arrive at the Beverly Wilshire, the Four Seasons on Doheny or L'Ermitage with no delivery charge on the booking, because those are our partner hotels rather than addresses we happen to drive to. The doorman knows the arrangement, the car is staged before your time rather than dispatched at it, and nobody is standing on Wilshire with a phone out.
Anywhere else in Beverly Hills — a house above Sunset, an office on Canon, a restaurant with a valet queue you would rather skip — is a named delivery on the quote rather than a surcharge discovered afterwards. The cars this postcode asks for are the Cullinan and the Maybach; the one it books is often the BMW 7 Series, because a dinner does not need an audience.
Driven both ways, with the middle included
An evening that ends somewhere is not two journeys. Malibu to a dinner in Beverly Hills and back is one block with a start and a finish, and the driver is held through the dinner rather than released and re-dispatched — which is the arrangement most of this field quotes and the reason their second leg arrives late, or as somebody else. The car waits where you left it. The same driver takes you home.
It matters most on the runs where the two halves are far apart. Malibu to Beverly Hills is an hour each way in the wrong traffic; a wedding in Santa Barbara is two. Booked as one block those hours are known before you commit, and the whole thing — car, driver, the waiting — reaches you as one figure rather than as a fare that grows. Booked as two transfers, the wait is the part nobody priced, and it is the part that goes wrong.
Who is driving, and how you would know
The car is the easy half to check; the driver decides the evening. The only number we hold that speaks to it is 5.0 from 67 reviews on our Google Business Profile — open it and read them rather than take our word. We deliberately do not turn that into a star rating in this page's markup: a business marking its own homework in structured data is worth nothing, and the profile is the primary source anyway.
What a rating does not tell you is who arrives.
