Light silver Range Rover P530 SE from a front three-quarter on a palm-lined Beverly Hills street

Clean Lines Big V8

Range Rover P530 SE

The full-size Range Rover with the V8, in light silver, with leather and wood inside and air suspension underneath.

The Range Rover is the SUV that made the others want to be luxurious. This is the newest one, with the biggest engine.

This is the fifth-generation, full-size Range Rover in P530 SE trim: a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with 523 hp, all-wheel drive, air suspension and about four and a half seconds to 60. It is light silver on black wheels over a black leather cabin, photographed on a Beverly Hills street.

Silver full-size Range Rover in profile with black wheels
01Full length in profile: the flat roof, the long side glass and the black wheels.

The shape is the cleanest Land Rover has drawn: a flat roof, a long glasshouse, flush door handles and slim lamps front and back. In light silver every one of those lines shows, and against black wheels the car looks quietly new.

Inside there is black leather, wood across the dashboard and the doors, a floating touchscreen in the middle, and a glass roof over both rows. The rear bench takes three adults, and the boot takes the airport luggage for all five.

The ride is the reason to book it over anything else of its size. The air suspension flattens the worst of Los Angeles’ roads, the V8 is quiet until you ask for it, and a run up the 101 to Montecito is the easiest two hours of the weekend.

Book it by the day: the deposit is held on the card rather than charged, and the car arrives hand-detailed at your hotel, your home or LAX.

More about the Silver Range Rover

Range Rover, Sport or Velar?

The full-size Range Rover is the comfortable one, with the most room behind and the softest ride. The Range Rover Sport is shorter and firmer, and the Velar is the smallest and the lowest. All three are on the Land Rover page.

Refundable deposit
$5,000
A hold, not a charge, and released 5–7 business days after a clean return, longer only if there is damage to price.
Protection plan
$225 a day
Priced off the deposit rather than the rate. Your own qualifying full-coverage policy takes this line out of the quote entirely.
Driver, 21–24
$175 a day
Twenty-one is the floor, with a licence held two years. The higher band applies at or above a $1,500 deposit; this car is in it.
Shortest booking
24 hours
No maximum. Delivery is complimentary at our Robertson Boulevard lot and our four Beverly Hills partner hotels; LAX is $150 both ways with the car in the airport parking structure or $300 both ways to the terminal, half that for one direction.

This one is the same rate at every length — it carries no multi-day block, so three days is three times one day.

Renting the Land Rover Range Rover: the short answers

Can I book the Land Rover Range Rover with a driver?
Yes. A chauffeur is from $100 an hour on a two-hour minimum, added to the car at its day rate — $1,100 for a four-hour evening in this car. No security deposit is taken on a chauffeured booking. The same car can be driven to the event and yours with the keys the morning after; the chauffeur service page has the runs and the hours.
What do I need to rent the Land Rover Range Rover, and can international guests book?
A driver of 21 or over with a licence held at least two years — between 21 and 24 a young-driver fee of $175 a day applies on this car, and under 21 is considered case by case. A major credit card in the primary renter's name for the refundable hold, and cover for the car: your own full-coverage policy if it extends to a rental, or our Protection plan arranged with the booking. International guests rent on a passport and a home-country licence; no International Driving Permit is needed. The hold is released 5–7 business days after a clean return, longer only if there is damage to price. If the age floor or the cover is the thing in the way, the same car goes out with a driver instead — that booking asks neither of you.
How far ahead should I book the Land Rover Range Rover, and can I change the dates?
There is no notice period: the calendar on this page shows the days it is free, and once a booking is paid a car that is free can be on its way to you in about an hour — same day included. Moving the dates is free, as often as you need, outside the last day before the start; a change inside it keeps one day's rate. What comes back if you cancel is set out in our terms and conditions.
Can the Land Rover Range Rover be delivered to my hotel, my home or LAX?
Yes. Delivery is complimentary to the Beverly Wilshire, the Four Seasons at Doheny, L’Ermitage and the Maybourne, and collection from our Robertson Boulevard office costs nothing. LAX is $150 both ways with the car in the airport parking structure or $300 both ways to the terminal, half that for one direction. Any other address is priced by distance from the office, $75 one way inside 10 miles, and itemised on the quote before you pay.
How many miles are included, and can I take the Land Rover Range Rover out of California?
Every car carries its own daily mileage allowance, and yours arrives in writing with the booking confirmation, together with the per-mile rate for anything over it. The car may leave the state — Las Vegas, Arizona, up the coast — as long as you tell us the plan in advance and keep the allowance in mind; it comes home to Los Angeles, since there is no one-way drop in another city.
What does a weekend in the Land Rover Range Rover cost, and can I rent it by the hour?
$1,400 for two days and $2,100 for three, before the Protection plan, tax and any delivery — there is no separate weekend rate, and one day is the minimum on a Saturday too. The day is the shortest self-drive booking; by the hour, the car goes out with a driver, from $100 an hour on a two-hour minimum.
