This is the third X5 in the fleet, beside a black one and a white one, and the finish is what sets it apart: a dark, slightly warm graphite that suits the X5's slab-sided shape better than either. A true black car this size looks heavy; a light one looks like a rental. Graphite sits between the two and gives the flanks something to do.

It is a big car in a city with small parking structures. If most of the week is Santa Monica and Venice, the X3 is easier; if it is four adults, LAX and a run to Palm Springs, this is the one, and at this rate it is the cheapest way into a large BMW the fleet has.

How much does it cost to rent a grey BMW X5 in Los Angeles?
The grey X5 is $125 a day. The day rate is the whole of it on this car — there is no weekly or monthly block, so a longer booking is priced day by day. Does it have a third row?

How does it differ from the black and white X5s?
