Blue BMW M440i Convertible from a front three-quarter with the roof up on a palm-lined Beverly Hills street

Blue Over Cream

BMW M440i Convertible

The open BMW with the six-cylinder: 382 hp, four real seats, a fabric roof that folds away in about eighteen seconds and a cabin in cream leather.

Four seats, a straight-six and no roof. It is the easy way to say yes to the coast road.

This is the BMW M440i Convertible: a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist, 382 hp, an eight-speed automatic and under five seconds to 60. It is blue over cream leather with a black fabric roof, photographed on a palm-lined Beverly Hills street.

01In profile with the roof up: the long bonnet, the short deck and the bicoloured wheels with blue calipers behind the spokes.

The roof is fabric and it folds away in about eighteen seconds from a switch on the console, at speeds up to about 30 mph. So it comes down at the first light on Sunset and goes up again in the car park at dinner, without pulling over.

The six is what sets this one apart. It pulls smoothly from a walking pace on Wilshire, and it has the power to spare when the PCH opens up past Malibu or Mulholland starts to climb. The automatic does the work in traffic.

Inside it is cream leather from the seats to the door cards, black carpet and a dark dash, with the M steering wheel, metal pedals, a digital display behind the wheel and a screen beside it. There are four seats: two in front, two behind with a cupholder console between them, so the other couple comes too.

Book it by the day: the deposit is held on the card rather than charged, and the car arrives hand-detailed at your hotel, your home or LAX.

Six cylinders.
No roof.

More about the Blue BMW M440i Convertible

M440i, 430i or Z4?

The M440i is the six-cylinder of the open BMWs, with four seats. The 430i is the same four-seat idea on a four-cylinder engine, and the Z4 is the two-seat roadster, lower and shorter.

Nizo Luxury rents the BMW M440i in Los Angeles — +1 (424) 303-6496. It is $199 a day; we bring it to your hotel or your home, or you collect it at no charge from our office on Robertson Boulevard.
How much does it cost to rent a BMW M440i Convertible in Los Angeles?

How fast is the BMW M440i?
It has a 382 hp turbocharged straight-six and reaches 60 mph in under five seconds. The eight-speed automatic makes it easy in traffic.

Will four people actually fit?
Yes — two seats in the front and two in the back, with a cupholder console between the rear seats. It is the open car to book when the evening is not just for two.
Can I see the dates before I call?

The terms, before you commit

Refundable deposit
$750
A hold, not a charge, and released 5–7 business days after a clean return, longer only if there is damage to price.
Protection plan
$100 a day
Priced off the deposit rather than the rate. Your own qualifying full-coverage policy takes this line out of the quote entirely.
Driver, 21–24
$50 a day
Twenty-one is the floor, with a licence held two years. The higher band applies at or above a $1,500 deposit; this car is below it.
Shortest booking
24 hours
No maximum. Delivery is complimentary at our Robertson Boulevard lot and our four Beverly Hills partner hotels; LAX is $150 both ways with the car in the airport parking structure or $300 both ways to the terminal, half that for one direction.

This one is the same rate at every length — it carries no multi-day block, so three days is three times one day.

Renting the BMW M440i: the short answers

Can I book the BMW M440i with a driver?
Yes. A chauffeur is from $100 an hour on a two-hour minimum, added to the car at its day rate — $599 for a four-hour evening in this car. No security deposit is taken on a chauffeured booking. The same car can be driven to the event and yours with the keys the morning after; the chauffeur service page has the runs and the hours.
What do I need to rent the BMW M440i, and can international guests book?
A driver of 21 or over with a licence held at least two years — between 21 and 24 a young-driver fee of $50 a day applies on this car, and under 21 is considered case by case. A major credit card in the primary renter's name for the refundable hold, and cover for the car: your own full-coverage policy if it extends to a rental, or our Protection plan arranged with the booking. International guests rent on a passport and a home-country licence; no International Driving Permit is needed. The hold is released 5–7 business days after a clean return, longer only if there is damage to price. If the age floor or the cover is the thing in the way, the same car goes out with a driver instead — that booking asks neither of you.
How far ahead should I book the BMW M440i, and can I change the dates?
There is no notice period: the calendar on this page shows the days it is free, and once a booking is paid a car that is free can be on its way to you in about an hour — same day included. Moving the dates is free, as often as you need, outside the last day before the start; a change inside it keeps one day's rate. What comes back if you cancel is set out in our terms and conditions.
Can the BMW M440i be delivered to my hotel, my home or LAX?
Yes. Delivery is complimentary to the Beverly Wilshire, the Four Seasons at Doheny, L’Ermitage and the Maybourne, and collection from our Robertson Boulevard office costs nothing. LAX is $150 both ways with the car in the airport parking structure or $300 both ways to the terminal, half that for one direction. Any other address is priced by distance from the office, $75 one way inside 10 miles, and itemised on the quote before you pay.
How many miles are included, and can I take the BMW M440i out of California?
Every car carries its own daily mileage allowance, and yours arrives in writing with the booking confirmation, together with the per-mile rate for anything over it. The car may leave the state — Las Vegas, Arizona, up the coast — as long as you tell us the plan in advance and keep the allowance in mind; it comes home to Los Angeles, since there is no one-way drop in another city.
What does a weekend in the BMW M440i cost, and can I rent it by the hour?
$398 for two days and $597 for three, before the Protection plan, tax and any delivery — there is no separate weekend rate, and one day is the minimum on a Saturday too. The day is the shortest self-drive booking; by the hour, the car goes out with a driver, from $100 an hour on a two-hour minimum.
