Black Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet from a front three-quarter on a palm-lined Beverly Hills street

Roof Down In Twelve Seconds

Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

The current 911 Carrera with a fabric roof, black on black, a twin-turbo flat-six behind the seats and the sky above them.

The 911 has been the same shape for sixty years. With the roof down, it is the best way to see why.

This is the 992-generation 911 Carrera Cabriolet: a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six with 379 hp, the eight-speed PDK and about four seconds to 60. It is black all over — paint, wheels and leather — photographed roof up and roof down on a Beverly Hills street.

Black Porsche 911 Cabriolet in profile with the roof folded
01In profile with the roof stowed: the long bonnet, the low windscreen and the wide rear haunches.

The roof is fabric and it folds behind the rear seats in about twelve seconds, from a switch on the console, at low speed as well as standing still. So it comes down at the first light on the PCH and goes back up in the car park at dinner, without pulling over.

The engine sits behind you, which is why a 911 feels the way it does: the nose is light, the steering talks, and the car pushes out of a Mulholland bend from the back. In traffic the PDK makes it as easy as anything in the fleet.

Inside it is black leather, a big analogue rev counter in the middle of the cluster, and two small rear seats that take a bag or a short ride. Two adults travel in comfort; the boot is under the bonnet.

Book it by the day: the deposit is held on the card rather than charged, and the car arrives hand-detailed at your hotel, your home or LAX.

More about the Black Porsche 911 Cabriolet

Which 911?

The Cabriolet is the 911 to take when the whole point is the open air. The Targa is the one with the brushed hoop, half open and half coupé, and the yellow 911 is the one for when the colour should do the talking.

Queries

Where can I rent a Porsche 911 Cabriolet in Los Angeles?
Nizo Luxury rents the Porsche 911 Cabriolet in Los Angeles — +1 (424) 303-6496. It is $1,200 a day; we bring it to your hotel or your home, or you collect it at no charge from our office on Robertson Boulevard.
How much does it cost to rent a Porsche 911 Cabriolet in Los Angeles?
The black 911 Cabriolet is $1,200 a day. The day rate is the whole of it on this car — there is no weekly or monthly block, so a longer booking is priced day by day. Delivery to our Beverly Hills partner hotels is complimentary.
How fast does the roof open, and can I do it while driving?
About twelve seconds, from a switch on the console, and yes — it works at low speed, so there is no need to stop.
Cabriolet or Targa?
The Cabriolet is fully open: the whole roof folds away. The Targa keeps a hoop and its rear glass and opens only the panel above your head. We let both.
Is it automatic?
Yes — the eight-speed PDK, which shifts itself in traffic and as fast as you like with the paddles.
Can I see the dates before I call?
Yes — the diary on this page is the live fleet calendar. If a date is open there, it is open.

The terms, before you commit

Refundable deposit
$5,000
A hold, not a charge, and released 5–7 business days after a clean return, longer only if there is damage to price.
Protection plan
$225 a day
Priced off the deposit rather than the rate. Your own qualifying full-coverage policy takes this line out of the quote entirely.
Driver, 21–24
$175 a day
Twenty-one is the floor, with a licence held two years. The higher band applies at or above a $1,500 deposit; this car is in it.
Shortest booking
24 hours
No maximum. Delivery is complimentary at our Robertson Boulevard lot and our four Beverly Hills partner hotels; LAX is $150 both ways with the car in the airport parking structure or $300 both ways to the terminal, half that for one direction.

This one is the same rate at every length — it carries no multi-day block, so three days is three times one day.

Renting the Porsche 911 Cabriolet: the short answers

Can I book the Porsche 911 Cabriolet with a driver?
Yes. A chauffeur is from $100 an hour on a two-hour minimum, added to the car at its day rate — $1,600 for a four-hour evening in this car. No security deposit is taken on a chauffeured booking. The same car can be driven to the event and yours with the keys the morning after; the chauffeur service page has the runs and the hours.
What do I need to rent the Porsche 911 Cabriolet, and can international guests book?
A driver of 21 or over with a licence held at least two years — between 21 and 24 a young-driver fee of $175 a day applies on this car, and under 21 is considered case by case. A major credit card in the primary renter's name for the refundable hold, and cover for the car: your own full-coverage policy if it extends to a rental, or our Protection plan arranged with the booking. International guests rent on a passport and a home-country licence; no International Driving Permit is needed. The hold is released 5–7 business days after a clean return, longer only if there is damage to price. If the age floor or the cover is the thing in the way, the same car goes out with a driver instead — that booking asks neither of you.
How far ahead should I book the Porsche 911 Cabriolet, and can I change the dates?
There is no notice period: the calendar on this page shows the days it is free, and once a booking is paid a car that is free can be on its way to you in about an hour — same day included. Moving the dates is free, as often as you need, outside the last day before the start; a change inside it keeps one day's rate. What comes back if you cancel is set out in our terms and conditions.
Can the Porsche 911 Cabriolet be delivered to my hotel, my home or LAX?
Yes. Delivery is complimentary to the Beverly Wilshire, the Four Seasons at Doheny, L’Ermitage and the Maybourne, and collection from our Robertson Boulevard office costs nothing. LAX is $150 both ways with the car in the airport parking structure or $300 both ways to the terminal, half that for one direction. Any other address is priced by distance from the office, $75 one way inside 10 miles, and itemised on the quote before you pay.
How many miles are included, and can I take the Porsche 911 Cabriolet out of California?
Every car carries its own daily mileage allowance, and yours arrives in writing with the booking confirmation, together with the per-mile rate for anything over it. The car may leave the state — Las Vegas, Arizona, up the coast — as long as you tell us the plan in advance and keep the allowance in mind; it comes home to Los Angeles, since there is no one-way drop in another city.
What does a weekend in the Porsche 911 Cabriolet cost, and can I rent it by the hour?
$2,400 for two days and $3,600 for three, before the Protection plan, tax and any delivery — there is no separate weekend rate, and one day is the minimum on a Saturday too. The day is the shortest self-drive booking; by the hour, the car goes out with a driver, from $100 an hour on a two-hour minimum.
