Every other car in this fleet is happiest on tarmac. This one is not, and that is the point of it.

Boxy, upright, round lamps in a flat grille, square arches over knobbly tyres. The Bronco is drawn to be useful rather than quick, which makes it the odd one out here — and the only car we let that is genuinely better at the end of a dirt road than at the start of one.

In a city of canyon roads and fire roads that turns out to be a real advantage rather than a costume. It reaches the trailhead above Malibu, the beach with the sand approach, and Joshua Tree for a weekend without anyone having to think about ground clearance. The seating position is high, the glass is enormous, and it does not sulk about coming back dusty.

What it is not is quiet. The all-terrain tyres sing at freeway speed and it leans in a corner the way a tall car with soft springs does. Both are the cost of the thing that makes it worth renting.

How much does it cost to rent a Ford Bronco in Los Angeles?
The blue Bronco is $199 a day. A shorter booking is priced day by day; the saving on this car arrives at the twenty-one-day block, which the quote applies for you. Delivery to our Beverly Hills partner hotels is complimentary.
Can I actually take it off road?
On graded dirt and fire roads, yes — it is the only car in the fleet we say that about. Rock crawling, deep sand and water crossings are not covered. Tell us the route before the trip if you are unsure.
Does the roof come off?
The hard top does, and so do the panels above the front seats. Say which you want when you book and the car is prepared that way for the hour you collect it.

Damage and liability cover

Mandatory, and priced off the deposit rather than the rate. Your own qualifying full-coverage policy takes this line out of the quote entirely.
Driver, 21–24
$50 a day
Twenty-one is the floor, with a licence held two years. The higher band applies above a $1,500 deposit; this car is below it.
Shortest booking
24 hours
No maximum. Delivery is complimentary at our Robertson Boulevard lot and our four Beverly Hills partner hotels; LAX is $75 to the parking structure or $150 to the terminal, each way.
