The X1 is the entry to BMW, and the interesting thing about this one is the cabin — cream hide against black paint, which is a specification usually two model lines further up. Five seats, a proper boot, and a footprint that makes Los Angeles parking a non-event.

Small BMWs are usually sold on the badge and forgiven their interiors. This one does not need forgiving: the seats are cream, the dashboard has real switches under the screen, and the driving position is low enough that it does not feel like a tall car pretending.

How much does it cost to rent a BMW X1 in Los Angeles?

The black X1 is $102 a day. Five days is priced as a block rather than as five separate days, and twenty-one as another; the quote takes whichever combination is cheaper for your dates, and neither has to be asked for. Delivery to our Beverly Hills partner hotels is complimentary.

Is it big enough for luggage?

Five seats and a boot that takes a weekend for four. For a full week with the same four people, the X5 is the better call.

The terms, before you commit

Refundable deposit: $500; A hold, not a charge. Back with you 5–7 business days after the car is home.
Damage and liability cover: $75 a day; Mandatory, and priced off the deposit rather than the rate. Your own qualifying full-coverage policy takes this line out of the quote entirely.
Driver, 21–24: $50 a day; Twenty-one is the floor, with a licence held two years. The higher band applies above a $1,500 deposit; this car is below it.
