Silver is the finish designers photograph a new car in, because it is the only one that shows a surface honestly. On the Stelvio that means the long curve down the flank, the flare over the rear arch and the way the bonnet is pinched around the scudetto are all visible — three things that a dark car keeps to itself.

It is also the easiest Stelvio to live with over a week: no glare on a bright canyon road, no pale dust showing after a run up the coast, and it looks right at a Century City office and at a house in Malibu without changing character. Take the grey one instead if you would rather the car looked rare than looked clear.

The Stelvio is Alfa Romeo's SUV, and it is built around the same conviction as the Giulia saloon it shares a platform with: that a car should steer better than its rivals even if that costs something elsewhere. The rack is the fastest in the class by a distance, the weight distribution is close to even, and the result is an SUV that changes direction like a much smaller car. On a canyon road it is genuinely, obviously better than what it is priced against.

It is a usable one, too. Five seats, a proper boot, all-wheel drive, and a ride that is firm but never brittle. The cabin is simpler and more driver-focused than a German rival's — fewer screens, a deep instrument binnacle, and column-mounted aluminium paddles that are among the best-feeling controls at this price.

Honest hook: interior materials and infotainment are a step behind the German cars. You are buying the chassis and the badge, and both are worth it.

  • The fastest steering rack in the class — the reason to choose it
  • All-wheel drive, five seats, a proper boot
  • Column-mounted aluminium paddles
  • Dark bronze-grey over gloss-black wheels · $159 a day

The terms, before you commit

Refundable deposit
$500
A hold, not a charge. Back with you 5–7 business days after the car is home.
Damage and liability cover
$75 a day
Mandatory, and priced off the deposit rather than the rate. Your own qualifying full-coverage policy takes this line out of the quote entirely.
Driver, 21–24
$50 a day
Twenty-one is the floor, with a licence held two years. The higher band applies above a $1,500 deposit; this car is below it.
Shortest booking
24 hours
No maximum. Delivery is complimentary at our Robertson Boulevard lot and our four Beverly Hills partner hotels; LAX is $75 to the parking structure or $150 to the terminal, each way.

This one is the same rate at every length — it carries no multi-day block, so three days is three times one day. We would rather say that than imply a discount that is not there.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent an Alfa Romeo Stelvio in Los Angeles?
$159 a day, with multi-day and weekly stays discounted. Delivery is complimentary to our Beverly Hills partner hotels.
Is this the Quadrifoglio?
No — this is the standard Stelvio with the four-cylinder turbo, which is the car that carries the chassis everyone praises. The 505 hp Quadrifoglio is a different and much rarer machine, and we would rather you knew before you booked.
What do I need to rent it, and can international guests book?
A full licence held for at least a year, a major credit card in the driver's name, and proof of insurance. International guests can rent on a passport and home-country licence. A refundable security deposit is held and returned in 5–7 business days.
How is it different from the grey Stelvio?
The silver is lighter and cooler and shows the bodywork better in daylight; the grey is warmer, darker and looks dearer in low light. Both are in the fleet — say which you want when you book.
Is an Alfa Romeo a sensible rental for a week?
Yes. Automatic, five seats, all-wheel drive and comfortable at freeway speed. The reason to pick it over a German SUV is the steering.

We rented the Urus for 2 days while in town for World Cup, they accommodated a last second booking, made the whole process a breeze, and picked the car up from the airport for us so we could save some time before leaving, all at a great price for what was offered. Would definitely rent from them again!
