Los Angeles has a reputation for traffic and a quiet supply of some of the best driving roads in the country, most of them within forty minutes of each other. Mulholland, the Pacific Coast Highway to Point Mugu, the Malibu canyons and Angeles Crest are different roads for different cars, and the difference is the whole point of renting one rather than another. Beyond the city are the two trips everyone asks about: the coast north to Santa Barbara and the desert east to Las Vegas.
The cars can leave California — tell us the plan in advance and keep the mileage allowance in mind, because a Vegas weekend is a lot of miles.
