What moves the number

How long you take it. This is the largest single lever and the one most people miss. A week is not seven times a day — it is closer to five, and a month is closer to seventeen. If your plans are loose, the cheapest version of the trip is usually the longer one.

Which day. Friday and Saturday are the two days everyone wants, and in a fleet where most cars are one of one, that is what pricing responds to. The same car mid-week, in February, is a different conversation from the same car on a June Saturday.

Which car under the badge. The Boxster is a two-seat convertible and the Macan is a five-seat SUV — the same badge on the bonnet and about $150 a day between them. People arrive searching for a marque and leave having chosen a model, and the spread between them is usually wider than they expected.

What sits outside the rate. A refundable deposit, held against your card and released after the car is back. Insurance, arranged alongside the booking rather than sold at a counter. The daily rate is not fixed for the length of the stay: the quote takes whichever combination of day, week and month blocks costs least across your dates, so a longer booking prices itself down without you having to ask for it. The week block begins at five days and the month at twenty-one.
Boxster or Macan — which one should I take?
They answer different questions. The Boxster is a 718: two seats, a folding roof, and a boot at each end that between them take a weekend. The Macan is the SUV — five seats, a proper tailgate, and the cheaper of the two by a clear margin. For a coast road on a Sunday morning, the Boxster. For a week with people and hard cases in it, the Macan.
Do you have a Porsche SUV?
Yes — the Macan, in grey, and it is the only Porsche SUV in the fleet. It is the one people book for the ordinary half of a trip: five seats, a boot that takes hard cases, and a day rate well under the Boxster. Less romantic than the roadster and considerably more useful on a Tuesday.
How much does a Porsche cost for a day, a week or a month?
All three are in the table, which is not true of most of the flagship cars on this site — they carry a day rate only. Both Porsches have a weekly and a monthly figure, and the quote uses whichever combination of blocks is cheapest for your dates: single days, five-day blocks and twenty-one-day blocks, no percentage discount and nothing to ask for. Whether a block actually beats the days depends on the car. On the Boxster the five-day block is a real saving. On the Macan five days come out at the daily rate and the saving arrives at the monthly block instead. Ask for both totals and take the lower one.
What is a Porsche Boxster rental actually like day to day?
Quick, small and easy, which is the part people are not expecting. The roof is electric and folds at low speed, visibility with it down beats any coupé, and it will sit in traffic on Sunset without complaining. Two people and soft bags is the honest limit. Ours is the red 718 Boxster convertible, and there is one of it.

Both of these sit in the lower deposit bands rather than the exotic one, which means the under-twenty-five fee is the smaller of the two we charge and the per-day cover is cheaper with it. The exact figures are in the quote before you pay. Under twenty-five, this is the least painful way into the badge.

Friday to Monday is three days rather than two, which is the difference most quotes in this market leave you to discover.
Is it cheaper to rent for a week?
Yes. On the Porsche the week bills as 4.4 and 5.5 days of the daily rate, and the month as 14 and 16.4, depending on which car. The block only applies from the fifth day, so a three- or four-day booking prices as three or four days at the daily rate. For anything longer than a fortnight it is worth asking rather than reading a table.
